Tommaso Serchi, PhD, ERT is a senior scientitist in the Environmental Health group of the SUSTAIN research Unit within the Environmental Research and Innovation Department (ERIN) of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. He has a background in medicinal chemistry and technology. He obtained in 2008 a PhD in medical biotechnology and he is an European Registered Toxicologist. He is a toxicologist with several years of experience in proteomics and in developing complex 3D in vitro models, including intestinal and lung in vitro models, for a multitude of applications, including inflammation, toxicity and respiratory sensitization. He is the PI on several national and international projects (m.ERA-net ENVALGRA) as well as WP leaders in H2020 projects . Dr. Serchi has large experience in testing and assessment of nano-materials in respect to human health. He co-authored 43 peer-reviewed articles (H index = 13). Since 2017, he is the chair of the WG-D – Models and Tools for Risk Assessment group of the NSC.
