Jean-Charles Arnault, Dr, HDR, is currently Research Director at CEA. His research interests include nanodiamonds (NDs) modified either by plasma or annealing under different atmospheres to tune their surface properties. Intrinsic properties of hydrogenated and surface graphitised NDs were investigated for different applications (bioapplications, photocatalysis). An in vitro radiosensitisation effect was reported for hydrogenated NDs while the labelling of NDs with hydrogen isotopes (deuterium, tritium) was achieved allowing an accurate knowledge of the surface chemistry and biodistribution studies. Jean-Charles Arnault is also involved in diamond epitaxy on up-scalable substrates for power electronics.
He is the author of 125 publications, deposited 5 patents and contributed recently to 6 chapters of books (4 concern nanodiamonds). He supervised 11 PhD students. He coordinated several national projects, international exchange programs and is currently PI of two H2020 projects. He is the editor of the book entitled “Nanodiamonds: Advanced Material Analysis, Properties and Applications” published by Elsevier in 2017. He is regularly involved in the organization of international symposia related to these topics (Spring & Fall MRS and E-MRS). In January 2015, he became an Editor of Diamond and Related Materials (Elsevier).
