Dr. Amaya Igartua studied Chemistry and finished their Ph.D in Sciences at the Basque Country University in Bilbao, Spain (UPV/EHU) in 1991. She then joined FundaciĆ³n TEKNIKER in Eibar (Spain), a research institution, specialized in surface technologies and precision manufacturing. During the last 10 years, she has been the Head of the Tribology Unit, consolidating an European reference research group with a history of 37 years. Now, she coordinate the European Actions in Materials.Ā She has been very active in EU Projects (>50), publications (>100), congress (>100), patents (3), and book chapters. Her skills deal with surface treatments and technologies, materials manufacturing, tribology, characterization and modeling, environmental issues and lifecycle impact assessment, in a wide range of sectors (transport, energy, health, consumer goods, construction, etc.). She is active in the Steering Committee of EuMaT (The European Technology Platform for Advanced Engineering Materials and Technologies) since their creation in 2005. She coordinates the modelling group and since 2017, she serves as co-secretary of EuMaT Platform.
